2 hydraulic units for material in - and output

DV Hydraulics has designed and built two new hydraulic installations for the feeding and discharge of materials in drying ovens. These installations replace the existing, outdated systems and were completed very quickly – only 3 weeks from order to delivery. Since all components are standardized, these installations are future-proof and guarantee hassle-free maintenance in the future.


The specifications of the installations are as follows:

Group 1 – Material feeding to the oven:

12,800-ton custom press with servo pump system

DV Hydraulics designed and built a fully customized press for sheet metal hydroforming.

This pre-stressed short-stroke press with a tailor-made hydraulic system was developed for extreme force, precision, and energy efficiency, with a focus on advanced control and maximum reliability. The press uses a servo pump system for highly efficient drive and is equipped with a Siemens S7-1518 PLC for precise and safe control.

Thanks to seamless integration into the complete production line, this press can produce a new sheet every 6 seconds, made possible by its continuous operation design.

Stainless steel HPU for a shear in the steel industry.

DV Hydraulics designed, built and installed a new hydraulic power unit to restore reliability to an existing cutting shear.

This installation replaced the existing outdated HPU.

The new unit has the following specifications :

  • Stainless steel reservoir of 1300 litres.

  • Double electronically controlled axial piston pump : 180 cc + 28 cc

  • Offline conditioning with 150 cc vane pump, oil - air cooler, heater and filtration.

  • Including cabling & labelling.

  • 2 custom-made nickel-plated manifolds : reduction of piping on plant by using ISO 7368 cartridge valves.

  • New piping to the cylinders.

All this custom-made so that the installation fitted perfectly into the existing chassis.

Naturally, this installation was also provided with the necessary documentation and professionally installed by our technicians in collaboration with the customer.

Test bench operating at 4000 bar, powered by water.

DV Hydraulics developed and built an advanced hydraulic test installation, designed for performing high-pressure tests up to 4000 bar.

This installation is equipped with proportional pressure control and combines precision, safety, and user-friendliness in one compact unit. The installation was fully tailored to the specific requirements of the customer and configured for reliable operation, even under prolonged load and extreme pressure levels.


Technical Specifications

  • Proportionally adjustable pressure control between 0 and 4000 bar, for both increasing and decreasing pressure

  • Short cycle time of approximately 1 second, depending on dead volume

    • At a volume of 500 cc, the compressibility of oil results in a compression of nearly 31% at 4000 bar (approximately 156 cc)

    • With a secondary flow rate of 0.3 liters/min, this corresponds to ±30 seconds filling time

  • Installed electrical power of 4 kW, sufficient for stable operation of the installation

  • Primary hydraulic circuit:

    • Pressure: 250 bar

    • Flow rate: 8 liters per minute

  • Secondary flow rate with water: approximately 0.3 liters per minute when the desired test pressure is higher than the primary pressure

  • Hydraulic tank with a capacity of 120 liters, equipped with:

    • Temperature protection

    • Level protection

  • Air-cooled system with:

    • Circulation pump

    • Built-in filter

  • Electrical control cabinet with extensive functions:

    • Start/stop operation

    • Monitoring of the installation

    • Emergency stop provision

    • Stabilized power supply

    • Selector switch for testing at 1000 or 4000 bar

DV Hydraulics designed and built 2 custom hydraulic power units for new 125-ton cutting presses, equipped with a powerful press cylinder. This system was specifically designed to meet the customer's unique requirements, optimized for maximum safety and performance. The systems comply with the highest safety standards.

The specifications of the hydraulic power units are as follows:

  • Press cylinder with a bore of 360 mm, designed for powerful and controlled cutting operations

  • Custom manifold block mounted on the cylinder, with all necessary valves for optimal performance

  • Electrical control cabinet ensuring precise position and force control of the cylinder, with both fast and slow movements

  • Safety level PL e, including light curtains and safety guards to ensure operator safety

  • Hydraulic piping executed in Belgium, delivered and installed at the customer’s location

Water-based hydraulics for the entertainment industry

DV Hydraulics designed and built a fully custom hydraulic system based on water instead of oil, specifically developed for a unique underwater environment in the entertainment sector.

The installation is part of a spectacular show element in the largest water show in the world, where all hydraulic actuators – including cylinders and motors – operate permanently under water at a depth of 7 meters in a swimming pool.

Although the HPU itself is not located underwater, all movements – including proportional control – are controlled from beneath the surface by a diver.

Operation takes place via a dedicated control panel with levers on the boat.

This called for a design in fully stainless steel, combined with pure water as hydraulic medium.

This makes the system completely leak-safe, even in sensitive environments like swimming pools where water quality and reliability are critical.

The installation has an installed power of 180 kW, proportionally controlled via frequency drives, and is built with redundancy to ensure maximum operational reliability.

Control is handled by a powerful Siemens S7-1517 PLC, connected to three HMI panels for safe, precise, and intuitive operation – even during live performances.

On the mechanical side, only high-quality, corrosion-resistant components were used:

Three stainless steel triple-action cylinders operate the masts, powered by a custom-designed RVS manifold block.

The system also includes four nickel-plated caterpillar drives with integrated stainless steel hydraulic motors, and two automatic hose reels, also driven by RVS hydraulic motors.

  • All actuators (cylinders, motors) operate permanently underwater (7 meters deep).

  • Proportional movements and control are performed underwater.

Custom hydraulic valve test bench in the automotive sector

DV Hydraulics developed and delivered a custom-designed hydraulic test bench for testing hydraulic valves for a customer active in the automotive sector.

This advanced installation is designed to combine high precision with flexibility and robustness, suitable for testing hydraulic valves under a wide range of conditions.

The test bench is equipped with two separate test circuits. These offer extensive control options for both pressure and flow.

Thanks to the use of servo pumps, extremely precise adjustments are possible, tailored to the specific requirements of the customer. Moreover, the servo pumps result in significantly lower energy consumption compared to traditional hydraulic systems, making the test bench not only more efficient but also more sustainable.

The installation was delivered as a turnkey project, fully installed and commissioned at the customer's site.


Key specifications of the test bench:

  • Two test circuits with servo pumps, for individual control of flow and pressure

  • Control range from 0 – 105 litres per minute and 0 – 100 bar, with an accuracy of 0.1% F.S.

  • Oil temperature control from -20°C to +140°C, suitable for extensive test scenarios

  • Viscosity range between 1000 and 3 cSt, for various oil types and conditions

  • Fine filtration down to 2 µm, for maximum protection of test components and accurate measurements

  • The press block is engineered for a maximum deflection of 0.2 mm over 1100 mm.

DV Hydraulics developed and delivered a custom-built digital hydraulic pump in a closed circuit 250cc configuration, designed specifically for an application where no standard market solution was available.

This pump was engineered for exceptional precision, fast response, and fully digital control, tailored to the requirements of a complex regulation system where conventional pumps fell short.

The pump configuration includes the following specifications:

  • Closed circuit 250cc pump

  • Nominal operating pressure: 350 Bar – Maximum speed: 2200 rpm

  • Built-in digital absolute encoder for precise swash plate angle measurement

    • Accuracy: 100 arcsec – Resolution: 0.0007°

  • Fully integrated ATOS DLHZO servo-proportional valve with built-in electronics and axis control to drive the pump

  • Direct Profinet communication between encoder and valve – no intermediate modules required

  • Pressure sensors with 0.1% FS accuracy and refresh rate >1 kHz

Thanks to the direct encoder coupling mounted on the pump's drive shaft, all mechanical tolerances are negligible, resulting in highly stable and precise control.

Custom Hydraulic Power Unit for Port Crane

DV Hydraulics designed and delivered a custom hydraulic installation for powering a port crane. The system was tailored entirely to the client's technical and operational requirements, with key goals: maximum precision, smooth movement, and total peace of mind throughout the project.

From engineering to commissioning, DV Hydraulics took full responsibility — allowing the client to focus entirely on achieving the required unloading capacity without technical concerns or delays.

Installed in the crane’s machine room, the system was built to perform reliably in extreme temperature conditions. Integrated heating and cooling ensure smooth operation in both hot and cold environments.
